October 29, 2008 1:45pm: Two female Quinnipiac students were arrested early this morning by the Hamden Police Department after a five day investigation into the most recent incident of hate speech/crime on campus.

The students were charged with disorderly conduct, 1st degree harassment and 1st degree conspiracy to commit harassment. They were transported to the police department where they were held on $2,500 bond.

The students were dismissed immediately from the University.

In a statement released to the press today, President John L. Lahey expressed his appreciation for the cooperative efforts of both the Hamden Police Department and Quinnipiac Security Officers. ”I cannot state strongly enough that this University has absolutely no tolerance for acts of this kind and will do everything in its power to prevent them,” he wrote.

Lahey said despite the arrests, an investigation will continue in the connection with other hate speech/crimes on campus.

Quinnipiac Officials are encouraging anyone with information to please come forward to security at 203.582.8782 or through their anonymous tip-line at 203.582.3008.
